Almost Tsunami

Well, I guess the tsunami false alarm did give the party that missing element. It got everyone talking about the same subject. Prior to that, we’ve somehow divided ourselves into smaller groups like me, Ryan, Zach and Matt would be cracking up on who’s the ultimate champion on PS2’s Winning 11 (I was the ultimate champion!), then the girls would be awing away on the local production ‘Sepet’ on how cute the boy is and yada yada yada and Audrey, the “sponsor” for the room decided to space out with a little book.

Oh, did I not mention we had a ‘party’ last night? Heheh, yeah…we did. It was a full-on chill-out party. Swimming, tanning, sunsets, and just plain old hanging out without worries; until everyone felt the earthquake. Almost instantly I assumed everyone already had one drink too many, I guess in the end, that statement came back and bite me in the ass. I think I had one drink too many ‘cos I was the only idiot who didn’t feel a single thing. Everyone had their moment of a slight panic, even I did when nobody’s mobile phone could call out (I wonder how much did DiGi and Maxis earned on that night, must have earned a lot). Picture this, I was drunk…40% panic, 30% calm, 20% hungry and probably 10% ready if any big-ass wave should hit, all that emotion running thru my head spawned a really weird feeling of serenity. It’s like the expression “It’s always calm before a storm.” But in this case, nothing happened apart from us resuming our drinking session.

We chose the weirdest part of the room to watch ‘Sepet’, since the girls had watched it earlier, now it was finally the guys’ turn. I mean, initially we were all suppose to watch it together, but that darn PS2 don’t do VCDs too well. So everyone would have to cram and squeeze to watch it on a 12” iBook. Ryan, Zach and me opted to watch it on the balcony with the sliding door and drapes shit tight. Yes, we were watching the movie on the balcony at 3am in the morning. It was like a cinema with a view, pretty much like Nokia’s Starlight cinema.

On the downside, I had to sleep on a ridiculously hard bed. I mean, it was like sleeping on a cement floor with only a comforter providing any sort of cushion. And I had to sacrifice my blanket to fold it and use it as a pillow. Thanks to Vila for err…complaining to Audrey on how she had stolen her pillow and hogging the blanket, “Aiyoh, Drey-ah! Stop trying to steal my pillow-lah…where’s my blanket!” So she moved and I just rolled my way onto Audrey’s former place. Hehe…I was still using that same blanket as a pillow. That was already 6am. Crazy night.

Rain

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

High octane drama not for the faint hearted. Drinking the night away, drowning sorrows. Angry words, sorry minds and tired souls. Misunderstood but appreciated. Tardy hours of darkness with premature sunup buzzings. It might have been effortless yet convoluted it has become.

Dark clouds are starting to form, covering the vast skies, blanketing the dominant sun. Perhaps it’s time to wash away all that has come to pass, and start off fresh. Our days are already short enough; fill it with bliss and beam and not grief and gloom.

Sesame This!

I've always know they are up to no good

01. Big Bird is a transvestite.
02. Bert & Ernie are sooo gay.
03. Elmo is sooo over-rated, it's not cute.
04. That stupid big giant elephant is such a stoner.
05. That purple Dracula dude is high on E.
06. Those nose-honking guys are way too cheerful.
07. Oscar needs a new haircut.
08. Kermit is bisexual.
09. Miss Piggy is a whore.
10. Oscar's worm deserves to be squashed.
11. That guy at the far right in the picture is too annoying.
12. Cookie monster is in need to be a vegetarian.

Note: Oh, and...they brain-washed me this morning with the letter T and the number 10. F**ks.

The Release

Surfs up! Where's that wave?!

Trying to look cool when the water is freezing.

Finally some peace and quiet, I can safely say that the holidays have finally begun. OK, reality is; 3 weeks from now is the anticipated yet nerve-wrecking finale, which is the exhibition. Am I ready? Who knows…I guess no one ever truly is.

Much has been going on the past week; fatigue has finally caught up on me, emotionally and physically…I need some “me” time :) No one else but me, to me, for me, from me, by me. Heh!!

The 3D animation short clip is finally finished, and with poise I believe that my group had the best clip, if not the best animation. At least it has a solid and simple story line, maybe the tagline at the end of the clip justifies it…but at least the message is clear. The theme was the ‘70s, so at first it was supposed to be a clip about getting high on marijuana and driving off the cliff with the tagline “Fly, but not literally”. But making smoke on LightWave isn’t exactly fun let alone animating it. So the whole concept was revamped. Instead of getting high, I realized in the 70s, drivers never look forward when they drive on those classic Hollywood flicks. So hence, the characters driving; oblivious to the fact that they’re driving towards the cliff and in-came the new tagline “The road is right in front of you” “Stay focus!”. Here’s a little sneak peek…enjoy!

Hasty Exit

Looking thru some of my pictures taken throughout the course of a few years, suddenly made me feel nostalgic. It made me realize that I came so close on embarking on a life that I would have hated, loathed and despised. I meant going on board the “Network Engineering” course. Seeing the campus and all made me realize this would be yet another mistake. And having just made a mistake prior to that with INTI, I know I couldn’t go thru the disappointment and despair again. How bad was the campus? Well, it’s pretty much like being in an all-boy Chinese school without school uniforms. They might have the state-of-the-art in everything, but they lack social life. Being in an all-boy primary and secondary school is more than enough for me.

Choosing ‘design’ as a potential career wasn’t apparent at all until one day; mom was cleaning up my room when out of the blue she re-discovered all my old sketches, paintings and illustrations. Then it hit me, “How could I have missed that?” I told myself, seeing that all this while I already have a so-called ‘talent’. She even re-discovered my old “comic book series” that I used to draw and have my classmates read it. Man, that comic book was a hit, sadly…it only lasted half-way into its second season, hehehhe. It’s basically all about kung-fu fighting with the mixture of Western and Japanese anime elements; it’s titled “Kage”. I know it’s cheesy. But hey! I was 14 at that time and it was cool then! (F.Y.I, the first season had 21 episodes while the second season only had 7. I stopped because I grew out of the comic book phase. Heh!)

I can feel the computer heating up and in desperate need of a “shut down”. It has been running all day since Saturday. Well, the 3D rendering is all done, now I need to upload it into my iBook and start editing this baby. It would be my first 3D animation, so far so good. I’ve posted up the picture before (The Unsavvy Duo), now I’m animating the characters to make a short clip.

That's it! Back to work, cheers.

Feel Good Day

It’s a “feel good” morning!! Eyes opened, its noon…and I just feel so damn good out of the sudden. Suppose to be one of those “feel-good-day” that comes by every once in awhile, and by golly…it hasn’t come to my direction in a very long time.

The contributing factors would probably be the reality of what’s planned today. Well, today is supposed to be the last day…I mean today is the f**king last day for our exhibition preparation (at least for us in the Graphic Dept.), regardless of what…I’m sick of it. And the other plan would be….the weekly Futsal (indoor football) schedule that we still practice. Doesn’t sound like that is much for a plan, but they’re the “in-betweens” as well such as, Tuckday, getting under the influence before the game, free time and well, I get to play Futsal today!! Man, I’m such a football junky.

I realize that tall people sometimes have a strange odium with their own height. Seriously, being a tall person myself…I hate being tall sometimes. I mean, imagine this; you can’t fit in the backseat of virtually any car, even if you do your head would be slamming against the roof of the car and you would have to tilt you head. Let’s not mention the cinema seating and public transportations.

Eh, today is “feel-good-day”, let’s not complain…let’s embrace!

Small but Unpredictable

I get back home every evening feeling pissed and aggravated…this can’t be good, can it? No way. I think it’s due to the amount of lunch I’ve missed because of this darn exhibition preparation. Tomorrow is supposedly the last day, well…today was assumed to be the last day but as usual, the simplest of task is misunderstood and everyone has to be held back. Please, please, please let tomorrow be the last day…for real. If not, I will have it self-declared. It has come to the point where I don’t give a f**k anymore.

This is one weird attic I have…when I see a super-ahbeng-modified-to-the-max car tailgating me at a speed, I always love to piss them off. What I do is of course, not allow them to pass me…if they attempt to overtake somehow, I’ll block their paths, hehe. Then have a little “race” with them…nothing serious. Driving the lousy car that I have, obviously I’m the underdog so my only way to “win” would be to outsmart them. Well, I know the roads here pretty darn well, like how the traffic behaves at certain point in the day, which lanes are faster and so on. Just by having them lose to a Kancil 660 is embarrassing enough to make me feel good about driving such a diminutive car.

Dead Beat

It’s Monday, sigh. And there are a couple of deadlines to be met by end of this week, or by middle of next week. The workload is eating me alive, have been so preoccupied from my own exhibition preparation…I’m starting to get the jitters… it feels like quitting cigarettes. And since we’re on the subject, never quit smoking while you’re under a lot of stressed, it’s like rubbing salt on an open wound.

Thoughts are just forcing their way thru my mind and I’m starting to give people blank stares. They’ll be yapping away on their story and I’ll just stare at them blankly, it’s like watching a talk show on mute. I can’t help it.

The iBook is starting to crap out on me, but I am putting it on over-drive, forcing it to achieve a Powerbook's task. Never let an iBook do a Powerbook’s job. Heheh…I think it needs more RAM and maybe a faster Hard Disk.

And I forgot about one little detail vis-à-vis the graduation exhibition, I’m the freakin’ MC for the official opening. OH-MY-GAWD!! I’m so screwed. It’s the end as we know it. This graduation just keeps “getting better and better!”. Hmmmpf…

At least I finally got to watch Constantine...

All Over The Place

4 more days to go, and after that…I’m off. After all, I’m in the photography department, why am I doing all this other stuff and being inducted into the ‘Design Team’? Beats me, I got other things to worry about like my exhibition, plus 2 more assignment that’s still pending for completion.

OK, I got something to confess. I dropped Liz twice on Friday! In the space of 2 hours, aaarghh!! Luckily, it’s still in tip-top condition, and there’s not even a scratch. *Phew*

Apart from all this “dropping Liz” and “Graduation mess”, my life this week has been pretty dull, maybe that’s causing my blog entries to be shorter and shorter. Let’s gather some highlights throughout last week and review…in no particular order…

I remember having a “round-island” trip with Ryan and Annie while hitting a ‘J’ after another and getting stopped by pigs cops once and then passing another roadblock after that. They have roadblocks at the weirdest place at Balik Pulau. (Balik Pulau is a place south of Penang that has been left untouched by time; it feels like the ‘70s there).

Just after the “round-island” trip, we ended up at Eurodeli and well…imagine 30-50 bottles of expired German beer, throw in 5 drunkards and what do you get? Figure it out yourself :)

Hmmm, what else? I remember going clubbing at Mambo which cost me quite a lot of money. Even though we only drank beers that night. That is one over-crowded club, I tell yah.

Futsal was alright. One of my mom’s plants is dying while the other has worms building up an empire inside. Ewww…at least I got free bait for fishing.

Staying & Saving

My weekend is ruined. Great, just what I need…relaxation out the window and hey! Guess what, there’s more work! *Sounds like fun!* (being sarcastic) let’s get cracking (nods head with thumbs up with a sarcastic grin).

Ok ok, enough with the sarcasm. I don’t mind the work; it’s just that I crave for some free time to myself. I’m sure everyone in the graduation committee wants some too after all, we all deserve some.

Ohh, the Langkawi excursion fell apart in the end. Well, I have my reasons, and they were good enough. Since I need a load of cash for the graduation exhibition, at least I’ll get to save the money my aunt gave me before she left to Australia. It’s a good start :)

Day Out to The Edge of Penang

My butt is numb. From what was suppose to be a trip to Island Plaza with mom turned into a 1 hour drive to the edge of Penang (Nibong Tebal, to be exact) to pick up dad and went on for a little family day trip at Carrefour. It was fun though, haven’t really had a family day in like forever…ok, since CNY. Apart from my sis missing in action (she lives in KL), it was nice to be a family again. I mean serious stuff here, when we were leaving Carrefour, all of us were holding our own ice cream cone…eating away our cold, refreshing ice-cream and talking rubbish.

While I was at Nibong Tebal, I noticed a few things there, such as…

- No one wears helmets there.

- There is no limit to how many people can ride on a single bike.

- Roads without sidewalks.

- Road rules do not apply.

- Traffic lights are there for decorative purposes only.

- There is not a single building there. The tallest structure would be a double storey house.

- Lorries and trucks out numbered cars.

- The have not heard of the term “mp3” in their lives.

- There’s a mosque in every junction.

- Grass is greener there for some reason, despite the draught.

Breakout

I need a break, badly. I might be on holiday yet I have:

1. April’s upcoming graduation exhibition to sort out.

2. Ideas on how to have a really decked out booth for the exhibition.

3. Wondering how I am going to generate RM600 for the exhibition.

4. Thinking of when will I ever get the chance to watch Constantine in the cinema.

5. I still haven’t edited my video.

6. There’s this short animated clip that I have yet to start.

And now I’ve got 2 choices.

1. Hitch a ride with Annie to KL. Or...

2. Go to my niece’s birthday party at Langkawi.

Langkawi sounds good…

Chillout Sessions

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Liz White keeping me company and entertained.

Ahhhhh…I’m at peace and tanning is cool. Haven’t realized how therapeutic swimming and tanning could be. It really brings one back down to earth with a really heavy anchor. OK, I did not go to the sea, seriously...who would? Especially having just got stung a jellyfish few days back, it was a friend who was crashing at Paradise Hotel, so he called for some chill out sessions. Getting under the influence, chill for a bit, swimming and then tanning…ahhh…*ohmygawd*…I’m so chilled…. :)

Thank god I live in Penang.

Cheap & Good

Two full days of relentless printing, 1 night of endless cutting and a full morning of pasting and organizing…this onslaught has finally ended. The first half of the Finals is finally over! Despite having the least promotional items on the table and the least decorated booth, getting the words “You’ve done well” from my lecturer makes all the suffering worthwhile. With no disrespect, I did have massive plans to have the most decked out booth, but with a limited small budget…there’s not much I can do. I’m lucky to escape with those words.

Now we’re on a one month breather before the finale, which is the graduation exhibition itself. Wish me luck :)
