Prosperous Belly

Today is me last day! Woohoo, ok. You know that awkward feeling you get when you’re typing an entry to your blog and someone’s watching? Yeah, I’m having that now. Woi, go away lah! Let me be…

(And so she wheels away on her chair, pretending to be interested in that red book I read, or maybe she is, heh heh….anyway…)

The week-long holiday is finally here, well almost at least. And since the boss is feeling generous, he decided to let us off early. Yay! Could use some extra time to catch some energizing snooze before futsal tonight.

Kev has some issues with estimation. At Batu Ferringhi, I remember both me and Ian, and maybe even Kev himself said “Make a small one!”. At the end of the process. The spliff was bigger than my Mild Seven. Then I looked over, “Small one, huh?” *BISH* Well, that fucked us up big time. And hence the massive hang over I’m going thru now at the office. But at least I get off early.

Previously we had a gambling session before we hit off to Batu Ferringhi, Roby had to show up with his self-proclaimed ‘prosperous belly’ (you kiddin’ me? You’re just fat, fatso, get over it, fatso.) and ruin our 20 cents per round card game. He hiked it up to 50 cents minimum, and of course, everyone succumbed to peer-pressure and raised their stake to a buck. But a few of us didn’t, and at the end, us cheapos were the real winners. And I had him a good one by raising my stakes to five bucks on the last game. I quickly flashed the cards at my face and what do you know! Pair 9! Double whammy baby! Heh, its RM10 dude! Pay up! Pay up! The year of the dog seems kind so far.

Xin Nian Kuai Le ya’ll!

Aim for the Sky

If I can find more time I would blog more often. But little I know, the pay-check’s in, the month’s almost over and the New Year is in the offing, and I have yet to do my CNY shopping! Ack!

Need to buy new clothes, new pants new everything! And there’s a paintball outing which I have yet to organize. Hey, wait a sec. Why is it me that’s going thru the predicament of talking with illiterate scum-bags on the telephone? Maybe I’ll pass it to someone else. Come on lah, I got work mah, where got time?! Besides, I just found out another place for paintball…and we get 1000 bullets! Ho yeah! Can go on rampage. Don’t laugh if I do some ridiculous somersault like in The Matrix. Heh heh…

But if we opt for the one at USM, maybe we should bring in a football with us. Since the terrain is on some field, why not bring a ball and use it as a weapon as well. Imagine, someone would be shooting at someone else and you pop in, aim the ball at any one of them and give the ball a good swift and fire away! Blimey, that’d be incredibly fun. Or maybe fill-up water balloons with coloured water and throw at people. Consider that a bomb. That’ll be awfully fun too unless you have such stubby fingers, which of course, the risk of having the balloon burst on yourself is higher than average. Man, I’m getting too creative with this, that means I need a paintball session really soon.

Well, this 3-5 February, at Gurney Plaza, my works will be on display again! So swing by the booth directly in front of Parkson Grand (Ground Floor), and check it out. That would be my 4th campaign! Man, this is fun.

Late, Late Header

Looky, looky who’s finally come home. While I sat there on my couch on a lazy, hung over Sunday engrossing precious TV time, battling a headache and weariness, this dude walks up to the front door with the loudest footsteps I’ve heard in recent times.

No words, no ahems, no “Oi!”. Just plain silence as if some low self-esteemed salesman was trying to sell me something. “Dammit, not another door-to-door salesmen.” So I summoned up whatever energy I could conjure up and ‘rise to the occasion’ from the couch. And there…this dude just stood there like as if he was being jailed up, hands gripping the gate bars…giving me the hugest ever grin.

“Mah leh! How are you man?!” shouts the dude who turns out to be Kevin. Apparently he’s a bit merajuk-ed since I didn’t reply him on my MSN which I left it on since last night. “What MSN?!” I didn’t go online lah!

Anyway Kev, welcome back! I owe you one biggy spliff. Tonight, yeah?

And yesterday progressed and ended pretty well. I thought, oh well, there goes, another failed game. Then, on the 90th minute, into stoppage time, he pops out and thumps in a thunderous header even the goalkeeper’s stronger side couldn’t keep it out. I swear, I almost swallowed all of me toothpaste. Manchester United has clinched a late, late winner courtesy of this season’s “prolific scorer”, Rio Ferdinand.

Liverpool fans are gonna get it from me today. It’s gonna be relentless. And I won’t be having a blue Monday after all. Just a red one! :)

The Ranguage They Speek

We went for a movie last night, a really, really, late movie. 12.25am kinda late to be exact. And it was of course, Memoirs of a Geisha. Frankly, the movie is a wee bit off course from the book at the start. They didn’t really introduce Sayuri’s family background, like the dad’s previous family who all of them died apparently in some tragic death, I think… was I reading the right book? I swear it was there. Anyway, in my view, it’s was to be a sentimental art movie with stunning visuals, costumes and cinematography. But it kinda turned main-stream halfway thru. And there’s a lot of raining scene which makes you think that Japan is pretty similar to London. Yeah, it’s the easiest way to portray suffering, misery and of course, the dramatic scenes when it’s raining. Easier for the actress too since they don’t have to force out tears.

But how can one take such movie seriously? I mean come on! Check out the accent man! Damn powderful man. The movie is so linguistically challenged that any English-educated person would laugh their heads off when anyone of them speaks. Michelle Yeoh is the only one in the main cast that has no problem speaking Engrish English of course. Malaysia Boleh!. And it’s weird that Sayuri’s friend, Pumpkin switches from archly Asian to fluid American-English accent so easily. And I hate when they speak Japanese all of a sudden and they are no subtitles for translation!

They might as well have made the movie in Japanese and have subtitles all the way. Hey, wait a minute; the lead actresses can’t speak it…hmmm, it makes you wonder why they got Chinese actresses to play what is quintessentially a Japanese story. And what’s up with the demented and demonic dance by Sayuri (played by Zhang Zi-Yi)? Do Japanese men fancy demented-ghost-like women in bed? What are they into man? Eeeks. I thought Geishas are elegant and fluid.

And the music doesn’t really evoke the right emotion. You would assume they couldn’t afford a composer so they just stole music scores from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or something.

All in all, once you get over the riotous accent, it’s actually a good movie despite all that. The acting is good, couple of good comic scenes, the actresses did a good job portraying their characters, the cinematography is top notched in my opinion; maybe the storyline is a bit choppy and they often resort to clichés.

Screw You Bird-Nest-Man

9 months working in an advertising firm. The only thing I’ve learnt: Penangites hates being original. It’s all about looking like your opponents or just like everybody else. Fuck me man, how to succeed like that?! Mahai. Open up your puny mind that’s covered by a bird nest-like hair and see the possibilities lah! Ohmygawd. I swear next time you ask me to do another carbon copy design; I’ll punch you so hard that your nose would pop out on the other side, so when you exit the office in shame, I could slam the door hard enough so I could hit your nose, again! Who on earth name themselves 'Garry' with a double ‘R’? I thought you weren’t into originality? Perhaps it’s stolen, just like all your ugly, second-rate brochures and press ads…which you force me to do.

Give me a break, man!

Flying Sheep

When you have been to Langkawi and drank copious amount of beer. You would think that your tolerance has gone up after downing at least almost one crate to yourself and still have the ability to drive safely, chit chat normally and think straight.

After that you come back to Penang and go on a week-long beer-free stint. Then one day, you decide to break the spell. And go on a drinking rampage, assuming that since your tolerance has gone up, why not over-indulge a little.

Subsequently, you hit a spliff, given that the beer seemed to have no effect on you. When the night ends, you go back and call it a night. Wash off and off to dreamland…

After that, with your eyes shut tight…the blardy kick hits you. It hits you so hard you’d be thinking why my purple flock of sheep is flying off hysterically and the world starts spinning out of a sudden. You hold on to whatever that left of your composure, staying focused. Then you decide to move your body to another position for optimum comfort. Then disaster strikes. Body movement coupled with a tripped out mind is catastrophic. Focus is lost, your mind wanders off feverishly and your body can’t take in all these random signals from your tripped mind. That means a lot of relentless late night or early morning scuttles to the toilet bowl barfing out all the dinner you’ve had.

I keep forgetting that the beer in Langkawi is watered down. It’s far weaker than any other beer you find in Malaysia. Heck, my tolerance is still the same. Maybe a little better, I wouldn’t know since the night was over-killed.

Tomorrow is surely gonna be shitty. One of the worst ever hangovers is looming. Seeing that it’s already 2.30am and my head is still spinning.

But when it was 7.40am. My eyes opened up, and suddenly my head sings that Toyota song…

“I woke up this morning, it's a beautiful day…eh eh…”

Man! This is awesome, man. No hangover!

Daily Death Routine

(I heard it on the radio)

According to some Sweedish researchers,
Waking up early could kill you.

Heh, wait till my boss hears this.

The MacBook (Eeks!)

It has been awhile since I heard the shocking news. That they were switching and setting up an alliance with their once arch-enemy. Yeah, I’m talking about Apple vs. Intel. And now, 12 days into 2006, they finally release their first ever modal under the Intel name. It’s a shocker that they release their laptops range first rather than the goofy looking eMac. I guess, part of the reason for switching was because their laptops deserve some massive over due upgrade since they can’t fit in the heat-prone and bulky G5 chips in it. So in come, the Intel Dual Core Processor!

I know a certain mini girl will be pissed at Apple for discarding their famous white and adopting Powerbook’s sleek silver exterior.

I know a certain fellow who might envy for not waiting a tad longer when he bought his Powerbook.

I know I’m quite annoyed that they renamed it to MacBook from iBook. Yeah, sounds kinda tacky. “Yeah? What am I using? It’s a MacBook baby! Eeeks.”

But the specs look fantastic. How the heck did they cramp in an iSight (Apple’s webcam) into a laptop screen (top center) which is only 0.8cm thick?! Fuck.

A Really Flat Day

There are days when I wish something would fuck up, so routine would be thrown off course. But there are days when I do need to stick to it. Usually, that’s when it starts to fuck up.

I had a flat tire today. OK, it was my fault. But the asshole insurance salesman/neighbour had to drive so god-damn slow in his green E-Class, I mean come on! Who the fuck drives like that?! Crawling at merely 30km/h. Sheesh. I had to take a quick de-tour to ditch him. And that’s how car tire meets curb happened. Yet somehow, I manage to pick Audrey up and drove all the way to the office at Gelugor before it finally went flat. (In my defense, I thought I escaped the damage)

It ain’t much fun when you’ve forgotten how to change a flat tire. So I lift the car up with that thingy, only to realize later that I have to loosen the bolts first, sigh. Back to step one.

It ain’t that much fun either when the spare tire is worn out and out of air. Argh! All the effort and sweat gone to waste. In the end, have to call the tire shop and ask for assistance. Spend money again! Argh! There goes my CNY shopping.

Hidden Reflection

Man, I’ve not watch TV for so long. So yesterday I indulge myself with some TV-time. Since I need a little me-time to recover from the Langkawi trip. Then dad walks in the front door.

Dad: Wah! Damn hot lah today. Don’t want to go out liao.
Dad: Eh, Mei…?!...huh?!
-long pause-
Dad: Meng ah?
Me: Yeah?!
Dad: Oh!...for one moment there, I thought you were your sister.

WHAT THE HELL MAN. I don’t look like my sister at all wei. Time for a haircut.

Pre-Langkawi

One more party to go, tomorrow, for yet another weekend (3rd in a row), I’ll be packing my bags and going off…to Langkawi this time. Where the hell did December go? Is it me or that it went by with just a flicker? It’s freaking January already, and the school-caused traffic jams are back with a really huge bang. I miss December. It’s so damn hot, wei.

I’ve made some resolutions and this time, I hope to stick to it. This time, quitting cigarettes isn’t on the list, since it won’t be enforced anyway…(why bother?)

So I decided, in 2006…I’ll > (in no particular order)

1. Spend more time with my parents + sis.
2. Find me a girlfriend.
3. Maybe quit cigarettes after CNY, but that’s CNY’s resolution-lah.
4. Be nicer to certain people.
5. Get a car.
6. Work harder.
7. Own a real full fledge iPod.
8. Start gym again and stick with the regime.
9. Travel.
10. Save money!
11. Grow taller and hit 190cm.
12. Move out.
13. At least fulfill half of the list above.

Here goes…
2006, another year.
