The Trip, Finale

Beautiful Langkawi: Man, it was so surreal. It seems like the perfect life. Since I never really finish blogging about the trip, I guess this will be it. Heh, closure entry for the trip that started off so badly and ended quite as bad as how it started. Luckily, everything else in between was awesome.

The ride. Man, I've never seen sooo many people puke at the same time. The ferry reeked with the stench of puke and "minyak angin cap kapak".

Ian doing his shampoo commercial moves. It's kinda strange, if you look at the picture...really look into it. You see Elaine's hair is almost motionless while Ian is kinda having his hair blasted away.

Speaking of hair being blasted away, I couldn't help myself. Since we couldn't afford to rent a convertible or that Sentra (heh!), a gold wira would do just fine. And this is as close as you can get to an open top.

Yeah, we looked happy, don't we? That's the look of "going to the biggest shopping small in Langkawi to buy shitloads of liquor, beer and smokes." But the mall is quite pathetic. Heh, no offence to them. It ain't that big. Afterall, it's Langkawi. It's about the duty-free-ness, beautiful beaches and well...duty free stuff!!

But I do have a question. Since everything in Langkawi is duty-free. What about the petrol? We were speculating throughout the whole trip. And how RM30 managed to give us a full tank that lasts us for 3 whole days. We drove a lot!

Alas, the deed was done. The beers chilled and the mood is right. Me and Ian was blazing already while waiting for Elaine to come back from her little shopping spree. Prior to that, we kinda lost Sina. It got us a little worried as you know, Sina being Sina, anything can happen.

"Why not we blaze and have a beer, if he doesn't come back then, we go look for him."

"Who? Sina? Never heard of him. Let's drink! Faster! It'll get warm." The little hut outside is very cozy...and little...did I not mention that? Ugh, it doesn't fit me very well as my legs were all over and around the place. Good thing is, I'm really flexible.

Of course, we had 2 iPods with us. Music, music, music babeh. Sina brought speakers! We got muuuuusic! After all that, Sina did return, I can't remember where he vanished to but we jumped right in to the sea and had a good swim. It wasn't that great, really. The wave was ridiculous. We kept getting "Wiped Out". That's the term we created if we fail to "survive" the big ass waves. Seriously, if you don't try, you get hit by one, and another and another and another until you get washed up to shore.


After getting Wiped Out, it was time to get ready for some mouth-watering sea food dinner. Earlier on, while we were chillin' in the hut. Some dude who runs the place came up to us and told us to go to this particular place in Kuah. He says that's the best sea food restaurant on this island. And cheap too!

You wanna know how good it was? It was sooo good we forgot to take pictures.

It was quite the dinner. Then we decided it was time that Sina took the wheel. First impression, he went over the pavement and not realizing it. But it was all in good fun. Back to drinking! Elaine had just thought us a new drinking game called the Wheel of Fortune. Not much fortune was involved in the wheel, but it was awesome.

The game went on, our faces were turning red, conversations started to get random, nothing makes sense and everything around us started to spin and in a perpetual loop. The game was taking a toll on us.

So we went outside!!

Man, there's a full moon outside and we're all cramped inside that small room. Jom lepak by the moon! We grab all our drinks, slide our feet into 'em flip-flops and kept on with our relentless drinking.



Sadly enough, it was to be the only night for Elaine. She had to go back the next day for some wedding, I think. Oh well, we make sure she had a good time.
When we left the beach, it was already 4am. Elaine had to get some sort of rest to prep herself for the grueling return trip on the puke-laiden ferry while Sina was already quite wasted. We didn't know the free room had an extra bed, so me and Ian had to rent another room about 3 minutes away on foot. So we left to the sleepyheads back there while me and Ian made our trip back to our place. 4am, Come on! The night is still young! We popped up another can of beer and blazed outside that small hut. It was fun.


The Day After: It's amazing. All of us woke up without hangovers. Except Sina, so we made him down a glass of Absolut. The best way to over come an hangover is to postpone it, heh. I kinda miss being a tourist (don't ask) so I made Ian follow me to the Underwater World. Sina insisted that he'll rather get wiped out again. So we made our way there, since it's just around the corner, literally. We blazed just to make sure no matter what, it'll still be something.

The service over there is so god damn bad, man. And expensive too! But what the heck, coming all the way here in that puke-ferry. Might as well. Nothing much to see, really. Everything was the usual zoo/aquarium creatures. But we get to see the world's largest Mouse! Hahah. It ain't a mouse, it's a rodent. And I've seen it on Discovery before. But the puny monkeys was a quite a sight. Finding it was hard enough, being "the smallest monkey" in the world doesn't really help us in finding those little rascals.

Of course, the main attraction has to be visited. The penguins. Yeah...they didn't really do much. Just stand and stare with those canto-pop-like hair sticking out. So much for being the main attraction. Come on! Do something! Fly! Anything! Hmmpf...

But they insist of just standing and staring. So we cabut. Go walk walk lah. See if there's any other more livelier animals to see. We did ended up in this indoor area where there's a little sign that says FROGS/TOADS. Yeah, they hide pretty damn well. We stood there for like 30 minutes trying to find one. Camouflaged well, they did and got really bored, we were. So we moved on

We found Dory! It's quite true on how Pixar has potrayed them as forgetful creatures. They swim really fast and stop, look around with a blur face and just float around. I think they are forgetful. Apparently, they're really nice to eat. Hmmmm...
The 3D cinema thingy isn't that fun either. It was a real eye-sore and headache. It was quite a major upset that the dolphin didn't go head-to-head with the great white. So that's it? Hmmmph!


After all that tourist thing. Back to business. I really wanted to go get wiped out again. Not none of the jokers wanted to and I didn't want to go alone. So I had to settle for some tanning session. Just laze around, relax and enjoy the life.

After another night of relentless drinking. It was time to packed up and say goodbye. From one island, now we have to return to another island. But there was one problem. We did not confirm our return tickets. And the worst case scenario occured. The ferry has been fully booked. We were screwed, big time. I had work the next day, Ian have to take a bus back to KL while Sina is the only one willing to stay for another night.

After trying every possible method to find a way back. All our efforts were in vain. And our stomach was calling. We headed to a KFC that's in the same building to get a quick fix while we figure this thing out. After much thought and hessitation. We decided that we will go home today somehow or rather. The route...take a ferry to Kedah, from there we had to get a cab to take us all the way to the Bus Terminal, where over there we'll take a bus all the way to Butterworth. And then from there, we'll jump on a ferry and ride back to the island. We had to do all that plus the load of bags we have and the bottles we had purchased. Alas, we arrive home and had Ah Liew to greet us and offered us a ride back.

It was one crazy trip. From start to finish. Let's go again! Jom!
